Sunday, April 1st, will be Palm Sunday. That is the beginning of Holy Week. On that day, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey while people surrounded him, waving palm branches, and shouting "Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" Later in the week, on Thursday evening, Jesus served the first Lord's Supper to his disciples. Jesus took the bread and wine and said that these were his Body and Blood, given for them. After this, Jesus went to the garden to pray and was arrested. After being questioned and tortured for several hours, Jesus was crucified on a cross. He hung on the cross and said some last words, breathed his last and died. Jesus died for each one of us. He died so we would not have to face God's eternal punishment. Jesus was laid to rest in a tomb and remained buried until Sunday morning. On Easter morning, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death and the devil once and for all. When we believe in Jesus and see our sins on him, we are saved by the grace of God. Through Jesus, we have everlasting life in heaven. This is why on Easter morning, we are excited to come together and worship our Risen Lord. Alleluia, He is Risen, indeed!
